The First Test

          So we took our first test today in class today .To be completely honest I forgot about it until someone reminded me in third block. We had to answer 12 multiple choice questions , found claim and evidence, finally we wrote what we believed what an individual was. I am really hoping I did well on this test because to me it was fairly hard.

Mother Tongue

  In class today we read "Mother Tongue" by Amy Tan in this essay she talked about the way her mother spoke. Her mother is chinese so when she spoke it sounded like she was speaking "broken' english. Amy grew up speaking this way so when her mother spoke it sounde like she was speaking clearly. After we finished reading we discused it and then had to write if we thought our speech is influenced by our peers or our families.

Comma Usage and Blogs

     In class today we learned proper comma usage as well as proper use of quotations. We started off today's lesson by reading everyone's post that they had written the night before. After reading and looking at some mistakes everyone had made we began writing notes on the basics of comma usage. Once we were done we corrected sentences by placing comas and semi colons in the right places.

Claim and Evidence " The Myth of a Latin Woman"

  Today in class we read The Myth of a Latin Woman in this essay the writer (Judy Ortiz) was telling the story of growing up as a latin girl . Throughout the essay she gives examples of the labels that people have associated her with. While reading the essay we had to find claims as well as evidence to back it up.After completing the essay we had the option to either write two paragraphs answering the question provided or take a quiz that the teacher had provided.
